Konami Becomes Second Major Studio to Warn Players About Fake Beta Invites

|
- Konami follows CD Projekt Red as the next major studio to warn its fans about fake beta invites for their games.
- According to their Twitter post, a website is collecting personal information from players who believed that they were chosen to participate in the fake beta invite for Silent Hill f.
- Silent Hill f still has no release date, but will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 upon its release.
On April 22, the official Silent Hill Twitter account sent out a tweet warning people who might’ve received beta test invites for their upcoming game, Silent Hill f. The studio clarifies that the website asking for personal information to join the closed beta for the game is fake and not associated with the studio in any way.
Konami is the second major studio to issue a reminder to its fans about a malicious beta test invite. Last week, Gaming.News reported about CD Projekt Red sending out a similar warning, saying that the email they’ve received regarding a beta test invite for The Witcher 4 is a scam and should be reported. The studio added that they are also taking the necessary steps to deal with the scammers.
Konami’s upcoming Silent Hill f became the center of controversy when it received a “Refused Classification” rating from the Australian Classification Board. However, the page was taken down in the following days, and the rating body has clarified that this was a mistake and the game is not “currently classified as ‘Refused Classification’ in Australia,” according to GamesIndustry.biz.
Silent Hill f was announced back in October 2022 during a Silent Hill Transmission stream. A similar stream happened recently, last month, on March 13, where the focus was the previously mentioned game. Silent Hill f still does not have a release date, but will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 upon its release.
