Five Star Wars games have been added to the GOG Preservation Program, leading up to May 4, also known as Star Wars Day. The GOG Preservation Program aims to make sure that old video games will still be playable on modern systems even after developer support for them has stopped.
The Star Wars games joining the program are:
- Star Wars: Dark Forces (Classic)
- Star Wars: X-Wing Special Edition
- Star Wars: TIE Fighter Special Edition
- Star Wars: Battlefront (Classic)
- Star Wars: Rebel Assault I + II
Additionally, Star Wars games are also offered at up to a 75% discount on the storefront. Star Wars has completely taken over GOG’s “Best Selling” category, with Knights of the Old Republic I and II leading the chart.
Other games are also collaborating with Star Wars to commemorate the event. Monopoly GO will add sticker sets of fan-favorite characters from the franchise, including Darth Vader, Master Yoda and Han Solo. Fortnite also has a collaboration plan with Star Wars.
A new Star Wars game is also in development and is set to release in 2026. Titled Star Wars Zero Company, the game will feature gameplay similar to X-COM games. It will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
