  1. Capcom confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem can be played in first-person or third-person perspective.
  2. Players have the option to toggle between the two options in the settings menu.
  3. Fans believe that the game is connected to Resident Evil Outbreak.

Capcom confirmed that the latest installment in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Requiem, can be played either in first-person or third-person perspective. Players will have the choice to toggle between two options in the settings menu.

IGN reported on the two options in its hands-on experience with the game, saying that there’s a difference in atmosphere between the two. The report said that Grace Ashcroft, the new protagonist introduced in Resident Evil Requiem, is not like Leon Kennedy or Jill Valentine, who are both battle-hardened veterans.

Ashcroft is more of a bookworm, and IGN mentioned it shows in the gameplay where she’s breathing heavily and is visibly more terrified. The perspectives also influence this atmosphere. According to IGN, during monster chases, the third-person perspective makes it feel more action-oriented, and the first-person perspective makes things a lot scarier.

According to some fan theories, the game is connected to Resident Evil Outbreak, a game that was released in 2003. There are a few characters that were mentioned in the trailer that strengthen this connection. For example, Ashcroft’s mother, Alyssa, was a playable character in Resident Evil Outbreak and was mentioned by another character.

Additionally, some fans claimed to have heard the voices of Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine in the trailer.

Resident Evil Requiem has a release date of Feb. 27, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
