Resident Evil 9 is reportedly planned for a 2025 reveal and 2026 launch, according to a statement from insider Dusk Golem on X.
According to Dusk Golem’s previous claims, the upcoming title is about to be set on a Singapore-inspired island in the Southeast Asian Sea, more specifically in a rural town. This setting was explored in Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Village, although those took place in Spain and Romania, respectively.
Notably, in 2024, Dusk Golem claimed that both Resident Evil 9 and Monster Hunter Wilds would be open-world games, and the latter was indeed an open-world title.
On top of that, the leaker clarified earlier this year that Capcom is reportedly reinventing the series and trying new things, much like it did with Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7.
Resident Evil 4, a 2023 remake of Resident Evil 4 from 2005, was the latest released installment in the series. The game won three awards and surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide, making it the fastest-selling title in the franchise’s history.
