PlayStation DualSense Controller to Receive Multipoint Pairing Functionality This Year

|
- The PlayStation DualSense controller is set to receive a multipoint pairing feature this year.
- The feature will be added through an update.
- Sony did not mention when exactly the feature would come to the controllers.
PlayStation confirmed that the PlayStation 5 controller, also called the DualSense controller, will receive an update later this year, allowing it to connect to multiple devices. This technology has existed for a long time, and it’s the first time it’s coming to the DualSense controller.
The company’s X post regarding the addition of the feature to the controller is very short. It only alludes to the future addition through an update and nothing else. For context, the multipoint pairing feature has been in Xbox controllers for a while now, as well as other select devices like wireless earphones or headphones.
While it might seem a good addition to the controller, some fighting game players are making memes about it, as it can actually be disruptive to games, especially when players forget to unpair their controllers from the console they just played on.
Problems like this have happened in the past, where controllers have tried to connect to a PlayStation 5 console during a match, leading to gameplay disruption. As such, it’s understandable that the fighting game community is cautious about the addition of the feature.
Sony did not mention when exactly the feature will be released. It also remains to be seen how it will be implemented with as few problems as possible.
