The Division 2’s second expansion, Battle for Brooklyn, comes out on May 27, six years after its initial launch on March 15, 2019. The expansion features the locations of Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo, which is a local neighborhood in the area.
According to the developers, the map is “faithfully recreated” and will feature familiar areas. Players will fight enemies equipped with Purple Flame, a new weapon type that players haven’t encountered before. This is a weapon equipped by the Cleaners faction in the game.
With the game turning seven next year, the developers have also shared their plans about the direction of the game for its Year 7 updates. According to them, they are going to focus on three things: onboarding new players, the endgame and more regular updates.
Since The Division 2 is seeing a constant influx of new players trying out the game, the development team deemed it necessary to make it easier to onboard new players. However, they’re also making sure that veterans have a good time during the endgame to retain them.
While the developers mentioned their vision for Year 7, they asked players to patiently wait for announcements and updates regarding the exact changes that will be made to the game.
The Battle for Brooklyn expansion will be released on May 27, 2025. Players who bought the Gold and Ultimate versions of the game will have access to the two expansions — Warlords of New York and Battle for Brooklyn — along with a level 40 boost to guarantee them immediate access to the expansions. For those who prefer a single purchase, the Battle for Brooklyn expansion will be available for $15.
The Division 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
