The new expansion pack highlights generation VII, debuting new trainer cards that feature iconic characters from gen VII. Ilima, Lana, Acerola, Mallow, Sophocles and Kiawe were confirmed in the trailer – these trainer cards are catered towards very specific deck types, and will not see general play. The official trailer has exact descriptions of the trainer cards.

All three starters from generation VII joined the game as well, in addition to a couple of new items: Rare Candy and Rotom Dex. Unlike the trainer cards, Rare Candy and Rotom Dex have far more generalized meta implications – as they are not locked behind a specific archetype.
