Ubisoft and Tencent Launched Collaborative New Business Focusing on Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six

Ubisoft and Tencent are launching a new subsidiary with the goal of improving upon preexisting IPs, such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. The new company is valued at €4 billion, with Tencent having invested €1.16 billion. 

CEO and co-founder of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot said, “Ubisoft is opening a new chapter in its history. […] As we accelerate the company’s transformation, this is a foundational step in changing Ubisoft’s operating model that will enable us to be both agile and ambitious.”

The goal of the partnership is to essentially create more games; in their statement the executive discusses their dedication to improve preexisting titles while driving the industry forward. This new business will be the new home of Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry development teams. The new subsidiary’s official name has not been revealed yet.

Tencent is one of the world’s biggest video game companies, valued at around $600 billion. The company owns Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends. It also owns popular IPs Honor of Kings, PUBG Mobile, and Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
