Key points
  1. Fighting Game God Daigo Umehara has vowed to quit streaming and take Street Fighter 6 more seriously this year.
  2. He is considered one of the best fighting game players of all time and is the person behind the “EVO Moment 37” clip.
  3. His dominance during his prime earned him the moniker “The Beast.”

Daigo “Daigo” Umehara mentioned in a post-match interview at Red Bull Kumite 2025 that he’s quitting streaming this year and will focus on Street Fighter 6 seriously. Daigo is considered one of the greatest fighting game players of all time and was the person behind the very famous “EVO Moment 37.”

The post-match interview in question happened right after the match between him and Noah “NoahTheProdigy” Solis at Red Bull Kumite 2025. After losing the match 3-5, Daigo was interviewed by one of the hosts of the event, Zhi.

“This year, I will quit streaming and return to Street Fighter 6 as a sport for serious competition once more,” Daigo mentioned. Before this, he talked about how NoahTheProdigy’s counterattack, speed, and movement were too fast for him. He closed the interview by saying that he wants to get his rematch against NoahTheProdigy after a bit of time. Ryan Hart provided the translation of the interview.

He hasn’t been too involved in Street Fighter 6 tournaments, only entering a handful of them and not placing in the top eight all that much. With his announcement of finally taking Street Fighter 6 seriously, he might enter more of them.

Daigo is one of the best fighting game players of all time and is considered one of the “Five Gods” of Fighting Games. He is behind the iconic “EVO Moment 37,” a video considered one of the most popular esports clips of all time. His dominance earned him the moniker “The Beast.”
