Victor “Punk” Woodley, the reigning EVO champion of Street Fighter 6, has failed to get past the group stage of Capcom Cup. He was one of the favorites to win the tournament.
Punk, widely considered as one of the best Street Fighter 6 players in the world, has failed to qualify for the main Capcom Cup tournament after a bad performance on the third day of the group stage.
Punk’s first two days were shaky at best, but his third day put the final nail in the coffin. Punk won only one set out of the five he played, placing him in fourth place in his group. According to a Tweet from Punk, he let his nerves get the better of him. He also mentioned Street Fighter League, which is a tournament that happens a day after Capcom Cup.
Capcom Cup is the biggest tournament of Street Fighter 6 in terms of prize money. Winning the tournament means winning a million dollars, while the second place gets $100,000 a huge $900,000 difference. This prize distribution was criticized by the fighting game community.
