|
- Civilization VII gets an update featuring quick moves and the option of renaming cities and commanders.
- Steam concurrent player counts and review ratings of Civilization VII remain behind the stats of the previous two installments in the series.
- Mount Everest joins the roster of natural wonders with this update.
Civilization VII gets a substantial update tomorrow, aiming to address player feedback with UI enhancements, gameplay tweaks, and requested features.
The quick move feature is leading the update allowing units to immediately reach their destinations, significantly speeding up gameplay. On top of that, players can now rename settlements and commanders.
Other major improvements include easier bulk purchasing through a persistent city panel, clearer UI notifications for cities under attack, and direct trade route management from the lenses panel. Besides that Mount Everest joins the roster of natural wonders.
The update also tackles pacing issues, especially around the Modern Age. Tech and civic advancement costs have been increased by approximately 25%, making late-game phases last longer.
This patch arrives at the moment as it becomes clear that the game struggles to reach the popularity of its predecessors.
As of the time of writing, Civilization VII features a Mixed rating with 28,704 reviews, while Civilization VI has a Very Positive rating with 251,463 reviews, and Civilization V features an Overwhelmingly Positive rating with 123,311 reviews. Talking about the online peak of concurrent players, Civilization VII has 84,558 counts, while Civilization VI features 162,657 and Civilization V 91,363.
