A Popular Modder Specializing in User Interface Joins Civilization VII Dev Team

- Popular Civilization Modder, Sukritact, joins Firaxis.
- Sukritact’s mods mostly focus on simplifying the user interface, which is a problem for Civilization VII currently.
- Civilization VII’s highest player count on Steam was more than 84,000 players.
On March 5, Sukritact, a modder specializing in Civilization games, joined Firaxis as their newest Technical Artist. The announcement was made in Civilization’s Discord Server.
Sukritact is a Civilization modder whose work often simplifies the game’s complex user interface. His most popular mod, Simple U.I. Adjustments, maintains a 5-star rating from over 6,000 reviews.
The announcement of him joining the team was first spotted by a Reddit user. Following the Discord announcement, Sukritact has shared his thoughts about the new opportunity on Bluesky. “Waaaaay back in high school, I started modding #Civ5, and honestly, that’s what started me down this path of working in game dev.”

Sukritact’s addition to the team comes at a vital time for Civilization VII. The game currently has a mixed review score on Steam and one of the main issues it’s facing is the user interface. Considering that Sukritact’s works are heavily focused on simplifying the user interface of a complicated strategy game like Civilization, it’s safe to say that he’s one of the few people who will be working on that.
Civilization VII was released in February this year. The game garnered a peak of more than 84,000 concurrent users on Steam.
