On Aug. 13, 2025, Roblox published a press release titled “More on our Removal of Vigilantes From Roblox,” where they pointed out that some vigilantes in the game have acted “similar to actual predators” by impersonating minors and leading them to “other platforms to have sexually explicit conversations,” which is against the game’s Terms of Use.
The company explained that they have been monitoring vigilante activity for quite some time now. While they do appreciate the feedback they provide and have used it to improve the game’s safety system, they mentioned that vigilante activity has evolved lately, which led to the ban.
As mentioned, these vigilantes have started impersonating minors and using external messaging platforms, which bypasses Roblox’s own safety systems. The company also mentioned that these were “not one-off situations and we saw the behavior accelerating across many accounts.”
Because of this, it created an “unsafe environment and normalized behavior that is both unacceptable on Roblox and is against our Terms of Use.” They reiterated that directing players off Roblox and using another messaging platform to talk to the other person in a sexually explicit tone is a serious policy violation.
Recently, a Roblox content creator named Schlep was banned from the game. He was responsible for the arrests of six child predators on the platform. He received a cease and desist letter threatening legal action at the same time he got banned. A week later, the Louisiana Attorney General filed a lawsuit against Roblox, alleging that the company had failed to protect children from sexual predators on the platform.
