Roblox Implements New Tools to Protect Children From Online Threats

Roblox implemented new control commands to help parents keep their children safe. The feature allows “limit who their child can connect with, see which experiences their child plays the most, and limit which experiences their child can access.”
The feature became more prevalent after the kidnapping of a 10 year old child, who had been kidnapped by 27 year old Matthew Macatuno Naval. According to the authorities, the two communicated on discord and Roblox – a popular gaming platform for younger gamers. The child went missing on April 12, 2025, during which she was last seen at home.
Investigations began after the missing report – Kern County Sheriff’s office investigated the case, leading them to suspect a possible kidnapping. Further investigations revealed that the girl and 27 year old Naval were suspected to be in Elk Grove, California. After being notified, Elk Grove Police located Naval and the minor – arresting the predator and temporarily taking the juvenile in protective custody until released back to their family.
“On April 13, 2025, at 3:35 p.m. in the 7100 block of Elk Grove Boulevard in Elk Grove, CA, Naval was arrested and booked for kidnapping and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor child,” Kern County Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook.
They booked Naval into the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Jail with no bail – he was later moved to Kern County with a bail set at $250,000. The kidnapper has a court hearing on Friday, April 19.
Kern County Sheriff’s Office urges parents to “monitor all electronic usage and know who your children are communicating with.”
