Publisher Devolver Digital Slashes Studio Neria’s Staff by 40%

Indie development studio Nerial underwent a team restructuring, resulting in a “40% reduction in headcount” – information revealed during Devolver Digital’s Investor Presentation: 2024 Results.
In the same presentation, Devolver Digital also announced that Polish studio Artificer received an over 50% downsizing in early 2024. The company reported a 13% increase in revenue from the prior year, growth that they attribute to the “success of lead titles, strong back catalogue and improvement in platform details.”

“We continue to invest more heavily into long-tail expandable games, targeting positive free cashflow generation in 2026. The majority of overall investment is currently directed into first party IP, with a similar focus on existing franchises and IP,” Devolver Digital explained in regards to striking the right balance. The company has at least 13 titles planned for 2025.
Nerial studio most notably created Reigns: Game of Thrones – a 2018 title that celebrated the Game of Thrones franchise with strategy based gameplay. As for Artificer, the other studio referenced in the investor presentation, they developed Showgunners, a turn based tactics game that includes dynamic level designs to ensure no two levels play the same way.
