The Blood of Dawnwalker RPG has no main quest, according to a statement from the founder of the game’s developing studio Rebel Wolves, Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and head of production for 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077.
“We want to bring video games closer to pen-and-paper RPGs and give you the freedom to experience what you want to experience,” highlighted Tomaszkiewicz, explaining the game’s flow. “It’s up to you if you want to do it by yourself, or if you want to build yourself, find powerful items, develop your character, or do some quests and find allies to help you do it.”
Published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for launch on PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X|S in 2026.
Set in a gothic, fictional 14th-century kingdom called Vale Sangora, the upcoming title is a vampire-themed dark fantasy powered by Unreal Engine 5.
The game’s story, which happens amid a time when vampires decided to claim rule over humanity, follows a protagonist named Coen, a young man whose transformation into a vampire didn’t work properly and turned him into a Dawnwalker, as he faces the dilemma of fighting for people’s destiny or embracing cursed powers to save his family.
The Blood of Dawnwalker will feature three skill trees for Coen’s progression: one for the human form of the protagonist, one vampiric, and one for general skills, along with a special vision mode, which will be used to search for important items, just like in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
On top of that, thje game will feature optional romance mechanics with three different characters.
Rebel Wolves team welcomed multiple former employees from CD Projekt Red, besides its founder, including Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz (Konrad’s brother) as creative director, design director Daniel Sadowski, art director Bartłomiej Gaweł, and Cyberpunk 2077 secondary director Jakub Szamałek, all of whom previously worked on The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077.
