- Microsoft’s CEO, Satya Nadella, is aiming to put Xbox games on all available platforms.
- He mentioned that he wants games to be enjoyed by gamers everywhere.
- Last week, Microsoft started to demand that its gaming division produce profit margins of 30%.
In an interview with TBPN, Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s CEO, revealed that he wants Xbox gaming to be similar to Microsoft Office, in the sense that it’s on every computer possible. According to him, he wants to make sure that “games are being enjoyed by gamers everywhere.”
“Remember, the biggest gaming business is the Windows business, to us, gaming on Windows, and of course, Steam has built a massive marketplace on top of it and done a very successful job of it,” Nadella told TBPN. He also added that Microsoft wants to be a “fantastic publisher.”
Just recently, Microsoft announced that Halo: Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, is coming out on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, essentially moving on to making all of the previous Xbox games available to even the platform that they compete against.
Even TBPN, regarding the question that Nadella answered, which led to the quotes above, mentioned that the console wars are seemingly over. With that being said, even PlayStation has been porting some of its exclusives over to Steam and Epic Games, like Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us.
Microsoft’s plans of making Xbox Gaming available to every platform might be influenced by the demands of the company to its gaming division. Last week, Gaming.News reported that Microsoft is now demanding that the Xbox gaming division produce profit margins of 30%, which is higher than the industry average.
