Assassin’s Creed Shadows is officially slated for release on Nintendo Switch 2 on Dec. 2, 2025, according to the announcement trailer published on the YouTube channel of the game’s publisher and developer Ubisoft on Oct. 23, 2025.
According to the announcement, the port for Nintendo Switch 2 comes with cross-progression and touchscreen support in all menus, including the world map, store, and hideout.
The news comes on the heels of launch of the game’s first paid expansion, titled Claws of Awaji, being released on Sept. 16, 2025.
Developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft, the 14th major installment in the Assassin’s Creed series and the successor to 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage, initially launched for macOS and Windows PCs, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 20, 2025, with a version for iPadOS planned for release at a later date.
Set in 16th-century Japan, Assassin’s Creed Shadows focuses on the conflict between the Assassin Brotherhood and the Templar Order, allowing players to control two protagonists: the samurai Yasuke and the shinobi Naoe.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam based on 24,353 reviews, with an all-time peak of 64,825 concurrent players, according to SteamDB.
In July 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows surpassed the 5-million-player mark.
