On Oct. 8, 2025, Microsoft announced a new Xbox Design Lab controller based on The Outer Worlds 2. The controller features the iconic Moon Man from the franchise as well as the option for players to design their very own controllers, from buttons to triggers.
Players are also able to avail a top case engraving to further personalize their own controllers, aside from the other customizable features. An Elite Series 2 version of the controller is also available, which gives players more buttons, like the back paddles, for more control.
The controllers are equipped with Wireless and Bluetooth capabilities, allowing players to be able to connect them to pretty much every device able to detect the input device. The controllers are already available today and cost $94.98 for the Xbox Wireless Controller and $184.98 for the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.
The game it’s based on, The Outer Worlds 2, is coming out on Oct. 29, 2025. Players can preorder the premium edition to be able to access the game five days early and receive Commander Zane’s Anti-Monopolistic Battle Pack. It will also be available day one on Game Pass.
The Outer Worlds 2 has been at the center of controversy recently, when the developers tried to set the game’s price point to $80. This decision was quickly reversed after fan backlash.
