Borderlands 4’s post-launch roadmap was revealed during the Gearbox Main Theater Show at PAX West on Aug. 29, 2025.

According to the roadmap, the game will be extended with post-launch narrative content, including two Story Packs coming in 2026. Each Story Pack will include both main and side missions set in a new zone called Kairos, a new Vault Hunter, new gear and new cosmetics.

The first Story Pack, which is arriving in Q1 2026, is described by the game’s developer as a bloody, cosmic-horror-inspired story that centers around Moxxi’s daughter, Pandoran mechanic Ellie.

Borderlands 4 will receive four Bounty Packs filled with narrative content of smaller size, along with new gear, cosmetics and a Vault Card that lets players unlock additional loot through gameplay. Each Bounty Pack will feature new Main Missions, revealing more about the various NPCs of Kairos, as well as a new boss, with the first one focused on Rush, the leader of the Outbounders faction stationed in the Fadefields.

Both Story and Bounty Packs will be coming to Borderlands 4 as paid content.

The first Invincible Boss is planned to be added to Borderlands 4 in Q4 2025.

On top of that, the game will see weekly challenges, seasonal mini-events and the comeback of the loot tier above Legendary, called Pearlescent.
