Helldivers 2: Into the Unjust update will go live on Sept. 2, 2025, bringing the battle to Hive Worlds corrupted by the Gloom, as was announced in a PlayStation Blog post on Aug. 25, 2025.
With new recruits gathered from the recent launch on Xbox, Helldivers 2 is about to spread democracy to the worlds struggling from The Gloom, a spore cloud that resides in the eastern parts of the galaxy inhabited by the Terminid Horde, commonly called Bugs.
The Into the Unjust update will bring Helldivers to new worlds with towering structures built by Terminids and will task them with lurking beneath the planet surfaces in the Horde’s mazes to locate and destroy the Hive Lung in an effort to stem the spread of the Gloom. Because of the nature of the caves, the Super Destroyer won’t be able to give full support, leaving players to fight against Bugs without proper backup.
The Hive Worlds will also present new types of enemies, such as subterranean species of Terminid Warriors, Bile Spewers and Chargers that can detect a threat from a distance, then burrow underground and move toward their prey, erupting from the ground and attacking once they are close enough.
The Gloom has also mutated the Terminids into grotesque Dragonroaches, flying monsters that rain burning bile.
In the upcoming update to Helldivers 2, players will also face new challenges while liberating Hive Worlds, like escorting a mobile oil rig, along with new optional sub-objectives.
On top of that, the Dust Devils Premium Warbond will launch on Sept. 4, 2025, equipping Helldivers with advanced weapons, armor and extras, including the assault rifle AR-2 Coyote, the cluster frag grenade G-7 Pineapple, the S-11 Speargun, which fires gas-filled projectiles, the single-use napalm missile EAT-700 Expendable Napalm, the long-range missile with a handheld targeting remote, MS-11 Solo Silo, the DS-42 Federation’s Blade and DS-191 Scorpion desert-ready armor sets, along with capes, player cards, an emote called Raider’s Cheer, the title Burier of Heads and the Rattlesnake pattern for vehicles and Hellpods.
Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Helldivers 2 is playable on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Windows PC.
Set in the 22nd century, the game follows the story of shock troops called Helldivers dispatched to combat various threats to humanity, protect Super Earth and spread managed democracy.
As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, with 757,943 reviews and an all-time peak of 458,709 players, according to SteamDB.
In 2024, the direct sequel to 2015’s Helldivers received 16 awards in different categories across multiple industry award ceremonies and surpassed 15 million copies sold.
