Hollow Knight hit a new all-time peak of 39,356 concurrent players on Aug. 24, 2026, according to SteamDB.
Interest in the game was heightened on Aug. 21, 2025, by the game’s developer, Team Cherry, with an official announcement of the sequel’s launch date for Hollow Knight: Silksong, set for Sept. 4, 2025.
Notably, according to the data from SteamDB, since the reveal of the sequel’s launch date, the game reached a new peak each day for four consecutive days.
Hollow Knight was released for Windows, Linux and macOS in early 2017 and later ported to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2018. On top of that, the game, which received four free expansions after launch, is also playable on Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S due to backward compatibility.
