World of Warcraft Midnight Expansion Introduces New Race, Max Level Cap, Home Customization, and More

World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion is the second chapter to the Worldsoul Saga; it is scheduled to release in 2026, with pre-purchase now available. According to the pre-purchase posting, World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion will be available on or before June 30, 2026.

Pre-purchasing Midnight Epic Edition unlocks Midnight beta access; the date for availability has not been revealed yet. All pre-purchases grant early access to housing, a new feature that allows players to customize their own home in Azeroth.

Housing Early Access is expected to become available during The War Within 11.2.7 content update. The feature offers a myriad of tools for customization with either Basic or Advanced Modes. The housing feature has separate blog posts, one of which discusses the base features, another discusses interior design, a different article overviews housing rewards, and the last discusses neighbors.  

The expansion introduces a new playable race: Haranir, a new allied race with deep roots in Azeroth’s history. The Haranir are a reclusive people dwelling in the jungle of Harandar; they use tools created from roots, glowing mushrooms, and living bark and stone. 

Here is everything marketed to be added to the World of Warcraft Midnight Expansion: 

  • New Zones: Venture into new zones filled with mystery and danger.
  • New Race: Discover Harandar and recruit the Haranir, a new playable race, by completing their story-driven quests.
  • Housing: Build, decorate, and personalize your home in Azeroth while completing themed Endeavors in your Neighborhood.
  • Prey: Engage in the Prey system—track powerful targets throughout Azeroth and beyond, but beware: your prey can strike back at any moment.
  • New Specialization: Unlock the Devourer specialization for Demon Hunters, harnessing the Void with unique ranged abilities ripped from your enemies.
  • New Dungeons and Raids: Challenge yourself in eight new dungeons and face nine formidable bosses across three raids as you unravel Xal’atath’s deepest secrets.
  • Updated New and Returning Player Experience: Enjoy a streamlined leveling experience focused on big characters and epic stories, ensuring new and returning players are ready for Midnight.
  • New Battleground-Slayer’s Rise: Engage in epic 40 vs. 40 battles in the new Slayer’s Rise battleground, set in the Domanaar-themed Voidstorm.

World of Warcraft Worldsoul Saga is a trilogy expansion; the first entry, The War Within, was released on Aug. 26, 2024. All early access content requires an active WoW subscription or Game Time.
