On Aug. 13, 2025, Dusk Golem, a video game industry insider, made a series of posts talking about Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Requiem, and he claimed that it’s going to be the franchise’s final numbered title.
Dusk Golem followed this up by saying that the game will serve as the conclusion of the events that started with Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2. They added that the series “plans to move on to new characters, stories, new types of horror stories, without being tied down by the series history.”
According to him, Capcom’s Resident Evil team has had problems with feeling restricted due to every single thing having to be tied up with the Umbrella Corporation, viruses and Raccoon City, all main elements of the franchise.
In another thread, Dusk Golem said that the game reminded them of the Revelations games. This time, it’s “just really high budget & more ambitious.” He also claimed that an embargo will be lifted on Aug. 20, which will allow press reviews and impressions to be published.
Resident Evil Requiem is expected to be released on Feb. 26, 2026, for the PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S. It was revealed at the Summer Game Fest in 2025 and will follow Grace Ashcroft, a new protagonist.
