Apex Legends entered its new season on Aug. 5, 2025, and with it came changes to two legends who have fallen off the ranks lately after being nerfed a couple of seasons ago: Caustic and Bangalore. This time, the developers are planning to bring them back into the meta.
Between the two, Caustic received the more significant changes as he became the first legend in the game to be able to unlock all four of his upgrades in a single game. Legends only unlock two upgrades per game, but Caustic’s new passive, Field Research, allows him to gain research points by poisoning, opening unique Death Boxes, and scanning ring consoles.
Upon reaching 100 research points, he can unlock an upgrade point for a maximum of two. This is besides the two other upgrade points that the game gives players upon leveling up their armor.
Bangalore, on the other hand, had become a great legend to use against controllers who plan to lock themselves in a spot and play defensively. She received a new upgrade called the Electric Smoke, which deals 100 damage to enemy ults and destroys tactical abilities.
The Controller classes also received a new passive, allowing them to continually regenerate shields while inside the zone. The passive stops for six seconds after taking damage. Additionally, players can now spawn a taller version of an EVAC tower from ring consoles that they have already scanned, allowing their team to rotate around the map more easily.
Finally, one of Apex Legends’ most iconic jumpmaster mechanic has been removed in ranked in favor of a more balanced drop zones mechanic where squads are automatically spread out across POIs. Hot spots have also been removed, making loot “fairly distributed” across the map.
