Rematch reached the mark of 5 million unique players, according to an announcement posted on the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on July 19, 2025.
Developed by Sloclap and co-published by Kepler Interactive, the online co-op football simulator was released for Windows PCs, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on July 19, 2025. However, a month after the official launch, the game is still missing cross-platform support.
As of the time of writing, Rematch has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam, with 22,895 reviews and a peak of 92,841 concurrent players, which was reached in the first 24 hours after release.
Set in closed virtual reality arenas with no fouls, no offsides or any breaks in play, Rematch allows one player to control a single athlete on a team in football 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 matches played from a third-person perspective. The title is built in a way that allows each footballer to take on the roles of attacker, defender and goalkeeper, switching among them throughout the game.
The title joined Xbox Game Pass on its launch day and became available on PC, Xbox Cloud and Xbox Series X|S for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers.
Rematch’s developer is planning to release an offline mode with AI-controlled teammates in 2026.
