Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition is slated for release on Aug. 14, 2025, for PC only via Steam and GOG.
Developed and published by Relic Entertainment, the Definitive Edition of the first real-time strategy game in the Dawn of War series includes the base game and all three expansions, Winter Assault, Dark Crusade, and Soulstorm, as well as nine full-fledged factions, over 200 maps, and multiplayer mode supporting up to 8 players.
The game is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe: a dystopian version of the far future in which humanity has forged a galaxy-spanning empire called the Imperium of Man. The action of the title’s single-player campaign unfolds on the planet Tartarus, an Imperial colony under siege by Ork invaders, with the player taking the role of the Space Marines’ Blood Ravens 3rd Company, led by Captain Gabriel Angelos, who arrives to assist the planet’s 37th Tartarus Planetary Defence Force Regiment of the Imperial Guard, led by Colonel Carus Brom.
Besides the narrative of the base game and DLCs, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition brings to the table upscaled units with upgraded textures, improved world lighting, and more detailed shadows.
On top of that, the game received modding support on 64-bit platforms and an integrated Mod Manager. The title is also compatible with over 20 years of lovingly crafted community mods.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Definitive Edition also has 4K support, an enhanced battlefield camera, and a HUD and screen layout optimized for modern widescreen viewing.

As of January 2013, the original 2004 Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War has sold more than 7 million copies worldwide. In 2009, the game received a sequel titled Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II, followed by the third mainline entry in the series, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, in 2017.
