Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks Officially Launches out of Early Access, Featuring Major Changes

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is slated for official launch on May 22, 2025, according to an announcement by the title’s developer, Caged Element, and publisher, Wired Productions.

Notably, the game is launching as a structurally very different title than it was in early access. Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is still a combat racing game featuring the Orks and their chaotic racing and combat craziness, but it’s no longer a free-to-play title. Additionally, it will be published by Wired Productions, not Plaion, as was previously the case.

For players who joined the free-to-play early access version of Speed Freeks, there will be no need to purchase the game when it transitions to a premium release. According to a press release, all 250,000 players who participated in early access will receive a free upgrade to the premium version.

All the microtransactions from the free-to-play version of the game will be removed, and any user who purchased or earned the premium currency in that version will be able to spend it for the next 12 months. For everyone else who didn’t jump into the early access version, the game will launch at $15.99.

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks’ 1.0 version will support player-hosted matches, private games and a free-roam mode for users to explore the maps and create their own custom races.
