On July 11, 2025, Nintendo announced that it would be discontinuing its Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers promo on Jan. 30, 2026, at 11:59 P.M. In a press release, the company added that purchased vouchers must be used within a year of purchase or they will expire.
This means that fans who bought vouchers on Jan. 30, 2026, will be able to use them until Jan. 30, 2027. Additionally, for those who have not redeemed their vouchers, they will be able to get them as long as they are still valid and unexpired.
Nintendo introduced the Switch Game Vouchers in 2019. Gamers subscribed to Nintendo Switch Online have the option to purchase them for $99.98. Each purchase gives two vouchers that fans can use to exchange for eligible games.
These are usually first-party games, such as Mario and The Legend of Zelda games, that almost never go on sale. This saves the gamer around $20, especially if they buy The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which normally costs $70.
Nintendo has recently discontinued its Gold Points program, which allowed users to earn gold points with every game purchase from the eShop. These points could be used for small discounts or even to fully purchase a game if enough were saved.
