Most Steam users are now familiar with the Steam Deck, Valve’s portable handheld, which was released years ago and costs $399. As for Peak, the indie cooperative climbing title costs $7.99 and has taken the world by storm.
Peak’s concurrent player count hit 114,494 on July 6 and appears to still be on a steady climb, pun intended. The cooperative title features proximity chat and a stamina bar, which dictates the vast majority of gameplay mechanics. Various content creators play the game, as it serves as a strong multiplayer experience with various opportunities for both betrayal and team building. It is Peak content.
These elements make the game an entertaining journey for various target audiences; the price tag of $7.99 also helps distinguish the title from its competitors. The game was released on June 16, 2025; its popularity grew most during the latter half of June.
