Capcom Cancels Monster Hunter Wilds Optimization Lecture at CEDEC 2025

|
- Capcom canceled a lecture dedicated to Monster Hunter Wilds’ optimization at CEDEC 2025.
- This most likely stems from the harassment the studio is currently receiving due to the game’s performance on PC.
- Monster Hunter Wilds is Capcom’s fastest-selling game.
Capcom’s lecture at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference 2025 (CEDEC 2025) was canceled by the developers for unknown reasons. Automaton’s report regarding the situation suggests that the studio canceled it due to harassment and targeted threats that the Capcom staff have been dealing with.
The harassment most likely stems from Monster Hunter Wilds’ performance on PC. The game’s Steam page shows that the game has “Overwhelmingly Negative” recent reviews, which shows just how frustrated the players are with the game.
A few days ago, Capcom announced a policy against customer harassment out of concern for its employees. The studio’s statement mentioned that they have confirmed instances of “detailed slander, libel, denigration of the character of our executive and employees by name or in a manner that recalls specific divisions, as well as harassment, threats to harm or disrupt business, directed at our customer support desk, on social media, and through review and posting sites on game sales sites.”
Monster Hunter Wilds is not having a great time despite record-breaking success at launch. A month after release, the game has already sold 10 million copies, setting the record for Capcom’s fastest-selling game. Monster Hunter Wilds also achieved 1.38 million peak concurrent players on Steam, the fifth-highest in the storefront’s history.
