The User-Generated Content (UGC) creative toolkit for PUBG: Battlegrounds will be revealed along with the upcoming update 36.2 in July 2025.
Initially revealed in the 2025 roadmap, which was published on the occasion of the battle royale’s eighth anniversary, the UGC toolkit is coming first in an alpha version for PC users only.
UGC alpha will allow players to design three main elements by themselves: objects, rulesets and devices. As an example, the game’s developer created and made available as samples some modes that demonstrate the capabilities of the mod creation tool, including a 3v3v3 Conquest mode, a Team Deathmatch where everyone uses just one weapon and a Parkour mode that fills the map with tricky obstacles between a start and finish point.
Notably, the ability to create UGC sessions will be limited at first to PUBG Partners, esports players and PUBG’s core creators, though anyone will be allowed to join and play in those sessions. The official window for the launch of the toolkit is set for August 2025.
When the UGC toolkit is officially released, any player with a Battlegrounds Plus account will be able to create their own UGC alpha sessions in Custom Match.
Developed by Krafton’s PUBG Studios and published by Krafton, the game is a PvP shooter in which up to 100 players fight in a battle royale. Players can choose to enter the match solo, duo or with a small team of up to four people. The last person or team alive wins the match.
As of the time of writing, PUBG: Battlegrounds has a “Mixed” rating on Steam with 2,571,589 reviews and an all-time peak of 3,257,248 players.
Notably, as of July 2025, PUBG: Battlegrounds has sold over 88 million copies worldwide across PC and console platforms since its launch in 2017. This figure does not include the free-to-play mobile version, PUBG Mobile, which, as of July 2025, has generated over $11 billion in revenue since its release in March 2018.
