The Finals received Update 7.3 on July 3, 2025, with a new mode titled Blast Off!, improved building destruction, and multiple quality-of-life fixes, adjustments, and improvements.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the free-to-play first-person shooter was initially released on Dec. 7, 2023, for Windows PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, and got a version for PlayStation 4 on December 12, 2024.

Blast Off! comes as a time-limited mode with constantly enabled Low Gravity. On top of that, in this mode, each contestant plays on Medium Build with Evasive Dash and an explosive, locked-in loadout. Another feature of this mode is its centered camera position and pixelated explosions.

On top of that, the developer implemented new destruction features that make buildings collapse in a realistic way. For example, the Pagoda in Kyoto and structures in Skyway Stadium can now deal damage to other buildings when they collapse. The visuals of the damaged edges around destroyed surfaces have also been improved in The Finals.

Besides that, over 20 new items were added to the store, including some specials dedicated to the 4th of July celebration.

Several gadgets and weapons received balance changes, along with content and bug fixes, and a renewed commitment from the developer’s Anti-Cheat team.

Developed and published by Embark Studios, the game focuses on team-based matches on maps with destructible environments and revolves around players competing in the titular fictional VR combat game show.

As of the time of writing, the game has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam with 234,670 reviews and an all-time peak of 242,619 concurrent players, according to SteamDB. On April 9, 2025, The Finals got Nvidia DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support.
