Somnia and Google Cloud partnered with the goal of increasing developer accessibility and AI integration for Somnia developers. The partnership is marketed to improve products within the gaming industry, which Somnia claims is increasingly building on blockchain technology. The collaboration reportedly unlocks advanced use cases, such as dynamic NPCs and AI-driven market participants.

In addition, Somnia will utilize Google Cloud’s preexisting infrastructure, increasing network security, reliability, and decentralization, a key feature in blockchain technology. According to Somnia’s official press release, “Somnia is integrating Google’s AI agent ecosystem, including ADK, A2A, and MCP, to enable intelligent, interoperable agents within on-chain games and applications.”

The integration is slated to begin in summer, during which developers will be invited to Somnia’s testnet to create projects leveraging the new capabilities.

Somnia’s architecture is catered towards the technological demands of video game developers; the blockchain capabilities exceed 1 million transactions per second. The platform features sub-cent transaction fees and a decentralized design, which allows it to handle massive volumes of simultaneous activity.
