Starting Aug. 1, 2025, Nintendo will be adjusting the prices of the entire original Switch product line in Canada, along with a wide range of related products, according to an official statement from Nintendo of Canada dated June 30, 2025.

The announcement cites “market conditions” as the reason for the price changes and outlines that they are specific to the Canadian market and will affect the Nintendo Switch OLED, original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, physical and digital Nintendo Switch games and accessories for the listed Nintendo Switch models.

Notably, this pricing update doesn’t apply to the Nintendo Switch 2 system, related accessories or software. Also, the announcement didn’t specify whether prices are going up or down.

As of the time of writing, in Canada, the original Switch sells for 400 Canadian dollars, the OLED version is 450 CAD and the Switch Lite is priced at 260 CAD. The Switch 2, which just launched on June 5, 2025, retails in Maple Leaf Country at 630 CAD.

As of March 31, 2025, according to Nintendo’s data, the first-generation Switch has sold 152.12 million units. Due to these numbers, the original Switch sits in third place on the list of best-selling game consoles of all time, following the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS, with 160.63 million and 154.02 million units sold, respectively.
