Key points
  1. Warner Bros. Games now has four franchise-specific divisions: Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and the DC Universe.
  2. According to reports, this restructuring hasn’t caused any layoffs.
  3. Warner Bros. Games has seen revenue decline for two consecutive quarters.

Warner Bros. Games has restructured its game development production into four divisions, each focused on one of the company’s major franchises: Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and the DC Universe, as reported by Variety.

Additionally, as part of the restructuring, Yves Lachance, head of Warner Bros. Games Montréal, has been promoted to senior vice president and will now oversee the development of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones titles. Similarly, Shaun Himmerick, head of NetherRealm Studios, has also been promoted to senior vice president and will be responsible for overseeing the development of Mortal Kombat and DC Universe games.

Besides that, Steven Flenory, chief of Games New York, has also been promoted to senior vice president. Among other things, his responsibilities will now include overseeing game and publishing technology, customer service and quality assurance.

All three of the newly assigned VPs will report directly to J.B. Perrette, Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO of global streaming and games.

Notably, according to Variety’s report, this restructuring hasn’t caused any layoffs.

The current restructuring follows massive layoffs, the shutdown of three studios, Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB Games San Diego, and the related cancellation of all projects in development, including the Wonder Woman title earlier this year.

On top of that, recent Warner Bros. Discovery’s Q1 2025 report revealed that the company’s game division saw a revenue decline of 48%, which followed a 29% revenue drop in Q4 2024.
