Capcom has officially announced Resident Evil 9: Requiem during the Summer Game Fest 2025 showcase. The reveal came with a cinematic trailer and revealed the game’s release date: February 27, 2026.
The reveal came via an in-engine cutscene trailer, though no gameplay footage was shown.
The previous mainline installment in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil Village (RE8), launched on May 7, 2021, and was both a critical and commercial success. As of 2025, it has sold over 11 million copies, making it one of the best-performing titles in the series.
The Resident Evil series is one of the best-selling and most influential survival horror franchises in gaming history, and the most profitable in Capcom’s portfolio. Since its debut in 1996, the franchise has sold over 150 million units worldwide across mainline titles, remasters, remakes, and spin-offs. It has also spawned a film series that ran for more than 20 years.
