Microsoft and ASUS have announced two new handheld gaming devices, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, set to launch in Holiday 2025. The devices mark the first official Xbox-branded entries in the handheld PC space.

Both models run Windows 11 and support native Xbox and PC games, but differ in specs and performance targets.

The standard ROG Xbox Ally is powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z2 A chip, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. The more powerful ROG Xbox Ally X features the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of SSD storage.

The announcement confirms earlier leaks that surfaced this May via hardware certification databases, which first revealed the existence of the Xbox-branded ROG handhelds. We previously reported on those filings, which hinted at two distinct configurations and a 2025 launch window.

While neither pricing nor exact release date was revealed, Microsoft confirmed both models will be available this holiday season.
