Nintendo’s Replacement Policy Might Counteract Joy-Con Drifting for the Switch 2

Nintendo will reportedly replace drifting Joy-Con 2 controllers for free. The news was reported on social media, utilizing a screenshot of a pricing policy. The screenshot shows a $0.00 estimate for Joy-Con 2 replacements for manufacturing defects. Nintendodeal, an unofficial Nintendo news outlet, shared the screenshot on June 6, 2025 – no source for the screenshot was provided. 

“At this time, we’re setting up your service request free of charge. If the problem with the product is not a manufacturing defect, we’ll contact you to arrange payment,” the post reads. 

The Joy-Con 2 saw user testing, which indicates that drift may still be a problem for the new hardware. Joy-Con drifting was a prevalent issue for the original Nintendo Switch; Nintendo failed to properly acknowledge and circumvent the widespread hardware defect in the previous generation. 

The Nintendo Switch 2 launched on June 5, 2025. The console was one of the most anticipated gaming devices in the past couple of years, largely thanks to the major success of its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch 1. Share options
