Key points
  1. Capcom has suspended the accounts of players who have been caught using mods to unlock armors quickly.
  2. A Reddit post points out that this might be due to players modding the game to unlock Sakura Event equipment and more.
  3. Monster Hunter Wilds is Capcom’s fastest-selling game.

On June 5, Capcom announced that it had started cracking down on cheaters who had acquired or used unreleased content. The studio has clarified that unauthorized acquisition or use of such content constitutes a violation of the game’s rules.

As such, Capcom sought out these players and has suspended their accounts. A Reddit post pointed out that it might be due to modding the game to unlock Sakura Event equipment, the Scarf and Arch-Tempered Rey Dau armor early.

Capcom has clarified that it reviews “gameplay data and activity history” before taking drastic actions like suspending one’s account. They also added that they will not be able to respond to individual inquiries regarding the enforcement actions.

The studio also encourages players to report players who they might deem disruptive or have been caught cheating in-game.

Monster Hunter Wilds was released on Feb. 28, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Within a few days of launch, it sold 8 million copies, making it Capcom’s fastest-selling game to date. The game also reached a peak concurrent player count of 1.3 million on Steam, placing it sixth among the platform’s all-time highest concurrent player counts.
