Splitgate 2 is scheduled for launch on June 6, 2025, following a short free open beta period, which started on May 22, 2025.
The game, developed by 1047 Games using Unreal Engine 5, is about to be released on PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Earlier this year, the title’s developer, 1047 Games, posted an infographic showing that during the alpha test, players engaged in more than 500,000 games, opened 20 million portals, discovered one rooster, killed about 59 million enemies, and witnessed around a million BFB bonks—where the BFB is essentially a baseball bat version of Doom’s famed BFG.
The sequel expands on the original’s core concept with larger matches, deeper customization, and a new backend designed to support long-term live service development. Notably, ahead of the start of the free open beta, the game’s developer revealed that it is working on a map creator titled The Lab, teasing that the game will feature an infinite number of maps.
The first initial free-to-play multiplayer shooter in the Splitgate series has achieved over 22 million downloads across PC and console platforms since its release in Early Access on PC in 2019. The game’s popularity surged notably in mid-2021 following its beta release on consoles, during which it amassed over 600,000 downloads in its first week.
