A graphic artist with the online alias N2 claims Bungie “lifted” poster designs that the artist created in 2017. N2 reinforces their accusation with a side-by-side comparison of the designs in question.

“The Marathon alpha released recently and its environments are covered with assets lifted from poster designs I made in 2017,” the initial post reads, displaying the following comparisons:

The artist has reportedly spent the past decade honing their signature style, which, they allegedly claim, Bungie has used overwhelmingly.

“Clearly my work was good enough to pillage for ideas and plaster all over their game without pay or attribution,” N2 states. The graphic artist lacks the resources to retaliate legally, as they have never made a consistent income from their work.

Marathon is an extraction shooter releasing on Sept. 23, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The Marathon closed alpha testing began on April 23 and concluded in early May.
