Donkey Kong Bananza’s listing in the UK Nintendo Store suggests that the game will feature local multiplayer functionality. However, Nintendo is still tight-lipped about the kind of local multiplayer feature the game will receive.
A look at the UK Nintendo Store will reveal that Donkey Kong Bananza is listed under “Local Multiplayer Games.” Additionally, its store listing reveals that “Players” has “TBD” under it, meaning Nintendo is still keeping it a secret.
This information is not yet available on the US Nintendo Store listing of Donkey Kong Bananza. The word “multiplayer” was neither mentioned nor appears in the specifications of the item. However, a few European Nintendo Stores, such as in Germany, France and Italy, show a similar listing to the UK one.
Previous Donkey Kong titles also had multiplayer modes. For example, Donkey Kong 64 had Monkey Smash and Battle Arena. Donkey Kong Country also has two multiplayer modes called Contest and Team.
Donkey Kong Bananza is set to release on July 17, 2025, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s the first 3D platformer of the series since Donkey Kong 64 in 1999, as well as the first major release since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in 2014.
