After GTA VI’s release date delay to May 26, 2026 was announced, Takes-Two Interactive published a press release reaffirming their full support of the business decisions taken by Rockstar Games.
Takes-Two Interactive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that they fully support “Rockstar Games taking additional time to realize their creative vision for Grand Theft Auto VI, which promises to be a groundbreaking, blockbuster entertainment experience that exceeds audience expectations.”
“While we take the movement of our titles seriously and appreciate the vast and deep global anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI, we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence. As we continue to release our phenomenal pipeline, we expect to deliver a multi-year period of growth in our business and enhanced value for our shareholders,” Zelnick concluded.
The new official release date for GTA VI is on May 26, 2026 – the delay was revealed after months of speculation about whether the game would meet its 2025 launch window. It is worth noting that as of February 2025, GTA V, has sold over 210 million copies worldwide, making it one of the second best-selling video games of all time, second only to Minecraft and his 350 million units.
