- Supermassive Games has cancelled the development of an unannounced Blade Runner game called Blade Runner: Time to Live.
- According to Insider Gaming, Blade Runner rights owner Alcon Entertainment was the reason behind its cancellation.
- Blade Runner: Time to Live was slated for release in September 2027 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and the next generation of consoles.
According to Insider Gaming, Supermassive Games, the creators of Until Dawn and The Quarry, have canceled the development of a Blade Runner game titled Blade Runner: Time to Live. The report mentioned that Blade Runner rights owner Alcon Entertainment was the reason behind its cancellation. The outlet did not provide the details regarding why the game was cancelled to protect the sources.
The Blade Runner game allegedly started pre-production in September 2025 and was supposed to end in March 2025. However, it didn’t even survive the phase, as it was reportedly cancelled late last year.
The game was apparently “rather impressive,” according to a source interviewed by Insider Gaming. Blade Runner: Time to Live was supposed to be a “character focused, cinematic, action adventure” game, which features “a compelling story blending the philosophical themes of Blade Runner with kinetic action-adventure gameplay.”
The game planned to allow players to upgrade their skills and abilities and use past memories to piece together the story. However, Insider Gaming noted that these plans might’ve changed as the game developed.
Blade Runner: Time to Live allegedly had a budget of roughly $45 million. Around $9 million of that was meant for external performance capture and acting talent. However, the budget didn’t include original music production, image rights, usage fees for performers, QA and game testing, localization and any future DLCs.
It was supposed to be released in September 2027 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and the next generation of consoles.
