Phasmophobia Hits 3 Million Copies Sold on Consoles in Six Months

Phasmophobia has sold over 3 million copies across PlayStation 5, PS VR2 and Xbox Series X|S, according to a celebratory post on the game’s official account on X (formerly Twitter).
The paranormal title by British indie game studio Kinetic Games was released in early access on Sept. 18, 2020, for PC via Steam with VR support. After its release, the four-player online co-op psychological horror received two significant bug-fix updates in its first week, followed by several major content updates over the next three years.
The game’s console port launch was initially set for June 13, 2023, but following multiple delays, the version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S was released only on Oct. 29, 2024.
After the launch of Phasmophobia’s console version, Kinetic Games announced that it is committed to reworking core systems, such as photo evidence, progression, CCTV, horror elements, hunts and events. It also plans to introduce new features, including video and sound evidence, character customization, updated character models and animations, additional optional objectives and tasks, new interactions and hallucinations, and fresh ghost models.
