  1. Vindictus: Defying Fate’s developer, Nexon, announced a PC alpha test scheduled for June 2025 and revealed Delia’s character trailer.
  2. The alpha test will feature four playable characters: Lann, Fiona, Karok and Delia.
  3. Nexon has added a new mechanic called the Special Action, a high-risk, high-reward move that requires precise timing.

Vindictus: Defying Fate’s developer, Nexon, scheduled a PC (Steam) alpha test for June 2025. Announced in February 2024, the game based on the fantasy IP of the popular free-to-play MMORPG Vindictus also revealed a new character trailer.

Nexon shared some details about the content that will be available for testing:

  • The roster of four playable characters (Lann, Fiona, Karok and Delia)
  • Companion system (NPC companions that assist in combat)
  • Combat (single-player and multiplayer)
  • Story and cutscenes
  • Leveling system
  • Weapon crafting
  • Ability system
  • Selection of cosmetic items
  • Village and inventory system

As for the new character trailer, it introduces Delia. According to the game’s dev blog on Steam, she’s “a noble princess with confidence in her own path, who cleaves through opponents with a mighty greatsword. With an unwavering sense of justice and proud elegance, she earns the trust of everyone she meets.”

Nexon also highlighted some of the improvements made to Vindictus: Defying Fate following feedback from last year’s pre-alpha test. Players can now climb ladders and ride ziplines to access hard-to-reach areas, while grappling hooks offer faster, more fluid movement across the environment. The developers have added traps throughout the game’s world.

Combat remains the heart of the game. Nexon has added a new mechanic called the “Special Action,” a high-risk, high-reward move that requires precise timing. When executed at the right time, it triggers either a “Perfect Guard,” completely nullifying the enemy’s attack, or a “Perfect Dodge” that seamlessly transitions into a devastating counter, depending on the character.

Staggering enemies opens the door for a powerful finishing move called the “Fatal Action.” By continuously attacking a foe, players build up a stagger gauge. Once it’s full, the enemy’s defenses break down briefly, giving players a window to unleash a Fatal Action for massive damage. Each character available in the upcoming alpha test has a unique Fatal Action tailored to their combat style.
