Key points
  1. Split Fiction will utilize GameShare, which allows Nintendo Switch 2 owners to share it with Switch owners.
  2. GameShare is more akin to cloud streaming rather than native gameplay.
  3. Owners of the game are also able to use the Hazelight Friend’s Pass.

EA announced that Split Fiction will utilize Nintendo Switch 2’s GameShare, which will allow Switch owners to play the game. Split Fiction was only designed for the Nintendo Switch 2’s much more powerful hardware.

“GameShare will enable Nintendo Switch 2 owners to invite another player to play together over a local wireless connection using just one copy of the game. This “other player” can be not only a Nintendo Switch 2 owner but a Nintendo Switch owner as well,” read the post published by EA talking about Split Fiction and how GameShare will work with the game.

For clarity, the game will not run natively on the Switch and is more akin to something like cloud gaming. Nintendo Switch 2 developers have mentioned in an interview that there will be a loss of image quality because the game is going to be streamed. They also advised against GameSharing games that need precisely timed inputs. This indicates that a certain amount of input delay is to be expected when using this feature.

Aside from this, Split Fiction in the Nintendo Switch 2 also allows them to use the Hazelight Friend’s Pass. This means that only one player needs to own the game, and they can simply invite the other player to join them in the game. Cross play will also be supported.

Split Fiction was released on March 6, 2025, with its Nintendo Switch 2 version being a launch game for the system. The game is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
