Key points
  1. Adel “Big Bird” Anouche wins Red Bull Kumite 2025 over EndingWalker.
  2. This is his second time winning a Red Bull Kumite title; the first time he did was in 2023 using a different character.
  3. Red Bull Kumite 2025 is an invitational tournament featuring exceptional top-level players.

On April 6, Adel “Big Bird” Anouche won the Red Bull Kumite title for the second time with a different character. His first win was in 2023, where he used Marisa when his character, Rashid, was still not in the game.

He won Red Bull Kumite 2025 over EndingWalker in a 5-3 fashion, joining Atsushi “Fujimura” Fujimura as the only two people who won the tournament twice. Interestingly, Big Bird did it with two different characters: Marisa and Rashid.

Big Bird has been a Rashid specialist since his release in Street Fighter 5. However, the character was not a part of Street Fighter 6’s base roster. This forced him to play another character called Marisa, whose playstyle is more aggressive compared to the tricky one Rashid has.

The tournament, which took place in France, was an invitational attended by exceptional players who had already proven themselves by winning several big tournaments or placing well. Before the event, a Last Chance Qualifier and Play-In occurred, which added two more players, Kojiro “Higuchi” Higuchi and Christ “Akainu” Onema, into the Kumite.

Once the 16 players had assembled, they were divided into two teams: Team Legends and Team Underdogs. Big Bird was part of the former, and quite fittingly, his Grand Final opponent, EndingWalker, was a member of Team Underdogs.

Red Bull Kumite 2025 is an invitational tournament set up by Red Bull. It features first-to-five matches and a single elimination bracket, which means that if you lose one set, you’re already out of the tournament. The tournament also features a €50,000+ prize pool, with the winner taking home €9,000.
