Nintendo Reveals Pre-order Date for Switch 2

Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order date April 9, 2025 was announced at Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 livestream on April 4, 2025.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will feature 256 GB of internal storage and be priced at $449.99. A bundle including Mario Kart World will be available for $499.99. For those looking to expand their storage, the console will support microSD Express cards, which maintain the same form factor as the original Switch’s microSD cards but offer SSD-like speeds. These cards start at approximately $45 for a 128 GB model and $60 for a 256 GB version. While the Switch 2 is compatible with most Switch games, you’ll need a microSD Express card to play any game on the new console.

Considering that the original Nintendo Switch sold over 150 million units, securing its place as the third best-selling game console of all time, the Nintendo Switch 2 faces immense expectations from both players and its creators.

Analysts predict that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have the largest console launch in history. Bloomberg reports that Nintendo is about to release an initial inventory of 6 million to 8 million units. If the company sells out of its first-day stock within the first quarter, it could exceed Sony’s PlayStation 5 record of 4.5 million units sold during the same timeframe.

Over 15 games upcoming for Nintendo Switch in 2025 got release dates within a live-streamed Nintendo Direct on March 27, 2025, while such titles as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, King of Meat, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Witchbrook, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Everybody’s Golf: Hot Shots and Dragon Quest I & II HD Remakes were officially teased for release in 2025 and Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, in their turn, were announced for 2026.
